Microsoft has issued a previous warning that they would stop providing support for operating systems Windows 2000 and Windows XP Service Pack 2, on July 13, 2010.
After this date, public support for this product end, and Microsoft will no longer provide support services or security updates. At the same time, Windows 2000 Server also will stop the service Extended Support, and Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 will be moved from Mainstream Support services to the Extended Support, which will end on July 14, 2015. For most of its software, Microsoft provides Mainstream Support, followed by Extended Support, and ended with Self-Help Online Support. For Windows 2000, this means that Service Pack 4 is the last update of support. Windows 2000 users are advised to move to Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Support Windows 2000 SP3 already expired on June 30, 2005, support for SP2 was retired on May 16, 2001, and support of SP1 was retired on July 31, 2000. For operating systems Windows XP SP2, users are advised to switch to Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Service Pack 3, where its support will end 2 years after the next service pack or at the end of any product support comes first. Microsoft ended Mainstream Support services for the Windows XP operating system on April 14, 2009, but the Extended Support will not retire until 8 April 2014. These dates affect all versions of XP: Home Edition, Media Center Edition 2002, Media Center Edition 2004, Media Center Edition 2005, Professional, Professional x64 Edition, Tablet PC Edition, and Tablet PC Edition 2005. While support for SP1 was retired on October 10, 2006.
